Junior climbing day is for juniors aged 8+ years.

Every year at SCW we deliver an exciting program of climbing outdoors on real rock. Our very experienced team of instructors will get you climbing on the Jurassic Coast of Swanage and Portland. Best of all there’s no need for any previous experience, either indoors or out.

Transport for junior days: Drop your children off with us at 8am for minibus transport to Swanage. We’ll be back after a great day at 6.30pm. All included in the price.

A statement from Tim Miller, owner of SCW and founder of Boulder Shack,

Over the past 8 years, we at Southampton Climbing Wall (SCW) have welcomed and supported a growing number of new and experienced climbers to our community. This great little wall is due to close soon as it is no longer able to meet local demand. Earlier this year, the owners of Southampton Climbing Wall, based in St Marys Leisure Centre opened Boulder Shack Climbing Gym, a much larger climbing centre just a few minutes away on Empress Road and this is now providing an exciting new chapter for the Southampton climbing community. With over 12,000ft² of climbing, Boulder Shack is able to provide for all the past users of SCW plus many more GCSE school groups, an over 50’s morning, increased junior performance teams, general fitness classes and instructed sessions for all ages and abilities – all within the comfort of a spacious centre with an in-house café. So although we’ll all be sad to see the end of an era at SCW, the next phase at Boulder Shack is already proving to be an exciting step forward.
